Corps Summary

The CEF Corps Summary Tables have now been enhanced with the addition of the units from the Canadian Field Artillery and the Other Corp Units, all of which in combination with the Infantry Brigades made up the 4 CEF Divisions.

The main Summary Table of interest has always been the Infantry Brigades, for which we have included all 260 Battalions of the CEF, not just the 16 Battalions that formed the 12 Infantry Brigades in the 4 Divisions. You will find that we have indicated which Battalions were part of the main Divisions and Brigades, as well as those that were absorbed into Reserve Battalions or became Designated Reserves. The summary table is just a summary, the details on each Division, Brigade and Battalion is found in the core of the Matrix web site.

You can enter each summary table from the links in the page or in the header. Within the "Corps Other" you will find the Divisional Units for each of the following:

Ammunition Columns

Canadian Engineers

Signal Companies

Machine Gun Corps

Divisional Train, Canadian Army Service Corps

Field Ambulances, and

Employment Companies

You will note elsewhere that we have provided details on similar units to these Corps Summary Units that were contained within the Army Troops, as they were not associated with any one specific Division. Think of the Army Corps Divisions as those groups that generally moved as a "team" and the Army Troops as those that were allocated and moved independent of the Divisions.
