Background:
| This section refers to the
artillery groups listed as "Army, Corps, Etc., Troops"
by Nicholson and does not show the "Canadian Field
Artillery" (C.F.A.) units that are listed with each of the
"DIVISIONS".
Do we presume that the 5th Divisional Artillery is listed in
this section because the 5th DIVISION did not come to fruition
as a fighting unit, thus there was no place to assign them in
the Divisional listings?
Readers of WWI history may also come across the term "Pan-Germanic
Artillery Batteries". These are described by
Livesay on page 51, in the reference noted, as the artillery
brigades formed at Vimy in April 1917 (1st, 2nd and 3rd
Pan-Germanic Batteries) and the Amiens area in August
1918. At Amiens, during the last hundred days of the war,
two complete Pan-Germanic Artillery Brigades were formed.
