Background:

The units are listed here if the references showed that it was "broken up" or used to supply reinforcements, rather than shown as having been "absorbed" by other units.  Some of these may move to another category when more information is received.  If you know more, please submit that information.

For example, the 227th is listed by Stewart as providing reinforcements, other references say it was absorbed by the 8th Reserve Battalion.

Sub-Components:

9th Battalion Mobilized at Edmonton AB, broken up to supply reinforcements
11th Battalion Prairie battalion, redesignated 11th Reserve Battalion
12th Battalion Montreal and Maritimes, redesignated 12th Reserve Battalion
23rd Battalion (Royal Mounted Regiment), Mobilized at Montreal PQ, broken up to supply reinforcements - reorganized as 23rd Reserve Battalion
33rd Battalion Mobilized at London ON, broken up to supply reinforcements, absorbed by 36th
51st Battalion (Edmonton Regiment) originally 12th Brigade, 4th Division but broken up in England to supply replacements to units already in France
60th Battalion (Victoria Rifles of Canada) , Mobilized at Montreal PQ
*replaced by the 116th in April 1917, men of the 60th transferred to other battalions in the field
113th Battalion (Lethbridge Highlanders) broken up at Sanding near Shorncliffe for reinforcements
122nd Battalion (Muskoka Overseas), Mobilized at Huntsville ON, broken up in England for reserves
142nd Battalion () absorbed members of 7th and 22nd Militia, broken up overseas to provide reinforcements to the Canadian Corps (see link)
190th Battalion (), Mobilized at Winnipeg MN, broken up to provide reinforcements
227th Battalion (Sudbury, Manitoulin, Algoma), Mobilized at Algoma ON, provided reinforcements in the field
