Background:
| Stewart reports that the 5th Pioneer Battalion
(Quebec City, Quebec) was organized in July of 1916 and was
absorbed into the Canadian Engineers in March of 1918.
Meek does not discuss the Pioneer Battalions in his text.
Love provides details on page 202 as to the details of the
reorganization of the Pioneer Battalions and the Canadian
Engineers. He reports that the 5th Pioneer Battalion was
broken up and absorbed by new engineering battalions from the
5th Division, which itself was subsequently broken up (see 5th
Division details).
