Background:

191st Battalion, Bryan's Buffaloes

Recruited at Fort Macleod & Lethbridge summer 1916 with Lt. Col. W.C. Bryan Commanding Officer.

Due to a labor shortage in Lethbridge at the time, the battalion had a great deal of difficulty recruiting despite Lt. Col Bryan’s pleas to the population’s patriotism and manliness.

The Battalion recruited 246 men before it was disbanded and it’s men were sent to the 21st Reserve Battalion. This was apparently in late 1916.
