Background:

Stewart reports that the 49th Battalion arrived in France and Flanders with the 7th Infantry Brigade of the 3rd Canadian Division on October 9, 1915 and served until the Armistice.  Love confirms that information. Meek adds that the unit was organized in Edmonton and served in Canada from January 4, 1915 until June 4, 1915 and then in England from June 13, 1915 to October 9, 1915. The unit returned to Canada in March 1919.

Nicholson reports on the 49th Infantry Battalion on the following pages (see the Matrix Nicholson Transcriptions):

Mount Sorrel 151
Somme 171-172; 185
Passchendaele 321
Raids 281

and also lists a number of other references.

From Library and Archives Canada:

There is no summary report, however there are a great number of items listed as being available at the Archives in Ottawa, Canada.  The only on-line item is the War Diary.
