EastCoastLobster: Post to CEFSG Forum March 25, 2006

The 11th Brigade Ammunition Column, C.F.A., was recruited mainly in Prince Edward Island and mobilized at Halifax, N.S., during January and February 1916.

With strength of 3 Officers and 107 other ranks the Column sailed from Halifax on S.S. "Olympic" on 5th April, 1916, arriving at Liverpool, England, on April 11th.

On 25th May, 1916, it was absorbed into the 3rd Canadian Divisional Ammunition Column, C.F.A., which served in France from 15th July, 1916, to 18th February, 1919. This unit was broken up in England in March, 1919, the largest detachments of the personnel being returned to Canada on the S.S. "Olympic" out of Southampton on 17th March, and S.S. "Cedric" sailing from Liverpool on 19th March.
