Prince Edward Island recruited 23 men
for the 24th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery, which was
organized at Fredericton, N.B., and as part of the 6th Brigade,
C.F.A., sailed from Halifax, N.S., on S.S. "Magantic"
on February 23rd, 1915.
On arrival in England the 6th Brigade, C.FA., was immediately
turned into the Canadian Reserve Artillery, the identity of the
Brigade and Batteries entirely disappearing and the personnel
being used in the formation of the 8th Brigade, C.FA., the
organization of which was authorized on 19th September 1915. In
November, 1915, the designation was changed to 6th Brigade,
C.F.A., and the Batteries renumbered. The 6th Brigade, C.F.A.,
proceeded to France on 10th January, 1916, and served as part of
the 2nd Canadian Divisional Artillery.
